His short visit pulls him in as he visits some eccentric characters from his past and those close to his Uncle. His fiancé does not want to attend the funeral with him. When approaching the town he is astonished how run down the town is and questions himself as to why he never visited his uncle when he had the opportunity to help him. Needless to say, the guilt set in –Cab's begins recalling all of those wonderful summers in this back woods little town (when he was home from boarding school) and everything which went along with magical summers –including a famous carousel ran by Ned. (She is a real B) and shallow is being kind! His finance never even gave him the message the week prior and only sent flowers. This all changes when he receives the call about his favorite uncle Ned which has died and his funeral is the following day in Stargazey Point, SC. (Since I am a native, love stories set in the Carolinas).Ĭabot (Cab) Reynolds, III is a successful architect in Atlanta, living the high life with a brat society hungry fiancé, currently working on a real estate project in Myrtle Beach, SC. I love Shelly Noble - she knows how to set this mood for a beautiful story (You get a full 98 pages so a good length novella), set in a quaint historic town south of South Carolina. Have already purchased and will begin reading it next. So glad I read this novella, Stargazey Nights prior to buying Stargazey Point. I am looking forward to continuing the saga in Stargazey Point. This story has likable characters, a delightful setting, and an interesting plot.

Is there any way that he can help revive the place he loves? Pieces of land are being sold off in order for families to survive and Cab's heart hurts to see the demise of a place he holds dear. It isn't the town of his youth, however, but a town on a rapid decline. When Cab returns and meets the people of his youth, the memories come flooding back. He tells Bailey that he is going to go to return to Stargazey Point to attend the funeral even though he is supposed to be at a fundraiser the day of the funeral. When it unexpectedly slips that his uncle has died and his fiancé has "taken care of things" by sending an enormous floral arrangement without telling him, Cab goes into a tailspin. Now an architect on the rise, Cab is engaged to a beautiful woman and living the high life in Atlanta.

He treasured the times that he spent with his uncle and Stargazey felt like home to him whereas his parents' home did not.

After his father remarried Cab Reynolds spent his school year at boarding school and his summer with his Uncle Ned at Stargazey Point, SC.
